Forever young BBL is an exciting option for treating many of the effects of sun damage and skin ageing. In addition to the immediate visible improvements, published research has shown that BBL also rejuvenates skin at a genetic level, switching on many genes that are active in youthful skin. In a long-term published clinical study, patients who received regular BBL treatments over the course of a decade looked younger at the end of the study than when they began.
Am I a good candidate for Forever Young BBL?
We can fine tune Forever Young BBL for your skin type and for your ideal results. The long term effects have been shown in most skin types, including people with more olive skin.
What will happen during the procedure?
Your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. Most people tolerate BBL treatments very well, with the sensation of each pulse of light being similar to a small rubberband snapping against the skin. During a BBL treatment, we use our Cryojet machine, which gently blows super cooled air onto the skin minimising discomfort. An added advantage of the Cryojet is that we are also able to protect the top layers of the skin with the cooled air, so we can often use higher settings which maximise the outcome and beneficial effect of the BBL treatment.
How long will it take to recover?
This is a noninvasive procedure with minimal downtime. In most cases, you are able to apply makeup, return to work and resume most of your activities with one to two days.
What should I expect after the treatment?
You may experience some redness and swelling that should resolve within one to two days For some pigmented lesions, you will see a darkening of the treated area followed by fading and flaking off at a later stage.
How many treatments will I need?
We have found most patients benefit from an initial 3 treatments approximately 4 – 8 weeks apart. To gain the most benefit from slowing down the normal skin ageing process, we recommend having a regular maintenance treatment which are usually performed once a year.
What aftercare will I need?
It is important to follow your post-treatment instructions. You will be sensitive to ultraviolet light and you must avoid direct sun exposure until completely healed. Fully cover your treated skin or use a good sunscreen whenever you go outdoors.
